Sophia Adams, 9, skates for the Glacier Falls FSC and trains at the Glacier Gardens in Anaheim, CA. She is coached by Mary Becktell. Adams was a fourth place finisher in the 2003 Jackson Ultima Future Champions Series in Juvenile Girls this past summer and finished 5th in Juvenile Girls at the 2004 Southwest Pacific Coast Regionals earlier this month.
When and how did you begin skating?
I started skating when I was going on five years old. I went to a birthday party at a ice rink.
What are your long-term goals in skating and off the ice?
My long time goal in skating is skating at the 2010 Olympics. My goal off the ice is to get straight A's through out my entire school years.
Who has had the greatest influence on your skating?
My mom, my dad and my coach.
Who are your favorite skaters and why?
Sasha Cohen for her flexibility.
What is your favorite jump, spin and connecting moves?
My favorite jumps are double flip and lutz. My favorite spins are camel and layback. My favorite connecting move is my footwork.
What do you feel are the weakest and strongest aspects of your skating?
I can't come up with any weakest thing. My strongest aspect in skating is my jumps.
What are your goals for this coming season?
To place at Southwest [Pacific Regionals.]
What music are you planning to use?
[Classical] piano music.
What should one look for in your programs?
My facial expressions.
What are some of your off-ice hobbies?
Dancing and reading.
What is it about skating that makes you go back to the rink day after day?
Learning new things about skating.
