Broadmoor Skating Club looks forward to welcoming participants to the new pilot National Solo Dance Championship. To provide clarification, please note that there will be two distinct solo dance events during our September competition.

As featured on USFS website, there will be a pilot program to develop a qualifying event, National Solo Dance Championship. This event has three competitive levels for which skaters qualify based upon their dance test level achieved following any testing track. There are only two dances drawn for each of the three competition levels as follows:

Bronze: Cha Cha Hickory HoeDown
Silver: 14 Step Tango
Gold: Kilian Westminster Waltz

There will be an additional opportunity to compete other solo dances at Pikes Peak Classic. The non-qualifying event will also be using the new format whereby skaters will accumulate points by competing any dances within the level they qualified for by test. The number of dance events within any level will be determined by the number of entrants in each with a suggested minimum number of competitors being at least 4. LOC and the chief referee will make the final determination.

Competitors entering the pilot event will have the initial entry fee to Pikes Peak Classic waived and will only have to pay fees for each additional event entered.

The deadline for entries is one week away. The event would be a great training opportunity for all of the newly formed teams, 6 weeks before qualifying competitions.

From "The Inside Edge with Sarah and Drew" Oct. 1st edition on Icenetwork:
Pike's Peak
We dropped in on the Pike's Peak pair competition last weekend; we haven't seen any coverage, so here's a quick rundown.

Senior pairs short program: Caitlin Yankowskas and John Coughlin won with a nice skate including a good triple twist and throw triple Salchow. Caitlin popped the triple toe into a double, and John lost his pivot on the death spiral, which meant they got no points for the element. 47.11.

Molly Aaron and Dani Cohen were second with 46.41 points; they popped the side-by-side double Axel into a waltz jump, but hit a good throw triple toe.

Lisa Moore and Justin Gaumond were third with 43.17; they were the only team which skated a long program (72.22).

Junior pairs short program: Chris Knierim and Carolyn-Ann Alba won with a clean program including side-by-side double Axels and a throw double Salchow. Brittney Chase and Grant Marron did a throw triple Salchow but fell on the side-by-side double Axel.

We missed the junior free skates, but Brittney and Grant won with 77.23 points.
