The Jr Ladies had some very fine performances, in spite of falls from almost all the skaters, especially in the FS. In particular, I thought Ellie Kawamura and Amanda Dobbs were very musical. I also want to mention Marissa Secundy's striking period-inspired FS costume; she skated to music from "Elizabeth: The Golden Age", and I suspect her dress may have been based on a portrait of Elizabeth at age 13:

What a fun event! Lots of comedy, lots of upbeat music, lots of energy; and the depth of the field is really impressive. All the skaters gave the impression that they were really having fun. Standouts among the "Unseens": Cyders/Kraniak with their 20's bathing suits and great choreography; the Hubbels' synchronization and their relationship with each other and with the audience; Mathews/Gislason were elegant and sophisticated.

I've finally worked my way through the Sr Ladies SP:

New Seniors this year are two particular favorites of mine: Angela Maxwell and Kristine Musademba. I was so pleased that they both skated well overall, and seemed to be having a good time. Also a treat to watch, beyond the obvious (Czisny, Flatt, Zhang), were Joelle Forte, Brittney Rizo, and Katrina Hacker.

Next up: The Jr Men's FS!

I loved watching long-time favourites again (Alexander Johnson, Alexander Aiken, Keegan Messing, Armin Mahbanoozadeh), and this year I saw Juran Wang for the first time. What a talented field!

I'm still working on the SR Men's SP photos, but I wanted to let you know that I've pulled out all my shots of Jonathan Cassar's GLORIOUS inside-outside spread-eagle and posted them separately, even the ones with poor image quality:

This was the standout, stop-your-heart moment of beauty for me from the Men's SP. If you've never seen Jonathan skate, take a look at icenetwork.com. He defies gravity without ever leaving the ice.

And as much as I love the men -- and I do, all of them -- I have to say that there's nothing more tedious, and in some cases more futile, than trying to photoshop something recognizable from a skater in head-to-toe black who's moving at high speed in front of a black curtain.

Does anyone know what music Corry/Lorello skated to? The program says "La Donna e Mobile" by Puccini; but the composer should be Verdi, not Puccini. I apparently thought I would remember so I didn't take notes. (Hah! I should know myself better by now!) I don't know if the music was right but the composer wrong, or if they skated to something else altogether.

Thanks in advance if you can help me!!

I loved, loved, LOVED this event. So many of our younger skaters seem to be right on the brink of putting everything together. Laney Diggs has been a favourite for several years and I particularly enjoyed her FS this season!
